What solution did the honing professional propose to ensure stable machining accuracy and increase productivity?
The introduction of the G50-MS2 honing machine, equipped with an RG measurement system, enabled accurate measurement results and stabilized rough machining precision.
Stable finishing processing made five micrometer tolerances a reality.
Significant reductions in adjustment-related downtime improved schedule stability and improved overall line efficiency.
When researching replacement equipment options, an employee from the production engineering division consulted Nissin ProSOL, a different manufacturer from the existing supplier. After careful consultation, Nissin ProSOL proposed the G50-MS2 honing machine.
This model is equipped with a slide table, a CNC table and an RG measurement system capable of high-precision processing. In particular the company was impressed by the gauge-based sizing system, rather than an air in-process system, thereby eliminating measurement variation issues. They believed that they would be able to achieve consistent machining accuracy.
The company was impressed by Nissin ProSOL’s long-term support system and decided to install the G50-MS2.
“After installation, the RG sizing system significantly reduced measurement variation, dramatically improved the precision of both roughing and finishing processes, achieving a diameter tolerance of five micrometers or less and stabilized surface roughness and cylindricity. Moreover, the rate of defective products decreased significantly. With improved quality, customer trust strengthened, leading to increased order volumes.”
“There was now, almost no need for manual adjustments by operators. Once the workpiece is set and the start button pressed, processing begins, and automated operations deliver consistent precision. Overall production efficiency has improved. We are relieved to consistently meet delivery deadlines.“
Because production schedules can be planned strategically, coordination with other processes has improved, increasing overall production line utilization. The reduced workload allowed operators to complete other tasks with more flexibility.
Encouraged by the success of the G50-MS2, the company considered adding more machines. Several years later, to meet new demands, they adopted the G75 type, the latest machine from Nissin ProSOL.
“The G75 type offers a higher motor capacity, enabling both roughing and finishing processing into a single spindle. It reduces space requirements and maintenance workload, contributing to overall cost reduction. Equipment that supports process integration and supports automation further strengthens our competitiveness.”
The manufacturer aims for continued growth through its partnership with Nissin ProSOL and is expanding into new markets.
