Hoping to gather information, the employee visited an industrial machine exhibition. Of the machines on display, the one that piqued his interest most was the G50-MM1 honing machine from NISSIN ProSOL. When the employee inquired with the NISSIN ProSOL representative for more information, he learned that NISSIN ProSOL had sold many such honing machines for use in the production of components similar to those used by his employer.
“NISSIN ProSOL also manufactures parts to order. We liked the fact that they can give advice on optimum processing parameters (for jigs and tools) based on their extensive experience, as well as offering a range of honing machines that can be used to machine components of various shapes and sizes,” said the employee.
After the employee discussed the issues his company was experiencing, the representative suggested that he visit NISSIN ProSOL’s Akasaka plant (in Kyotango) to view actual machines and demonstrations, and invited him to bring the rest of his team.
“After seeing honing machines and honing demonstrations and having NISSIN ProSOL perform machining tests, we established that the G50-MM1 offered the performance required to produce the prototypes we needed and was also suited for data collection. Furthermore, we were impressed by the high level of support offered, with NISSIN ProSOL willing to offer solutions and share information.”
The employee shared this information with the rest of the company, and before long the manufacturer had agreed to install the G50-MM1, which was used by its production engineering division to produce a variety of prototypes, thereby contributing greatly to the manufacturer’s acquisition of data and machining expertise. The manufacture rated the machine’s performance highly, and six months later the manufacturer had installed NISSIN ProSOL honing machines on its actual production line to manufacture its components in-house. Because the manufacturer was able to apply the knowledge it acquired when producing prototypes, its production line operated very smoothly.
It’s mission in production engineering complete, the prototype machine was transferred to the development division, where it continues to be used. The machine promises to come in handy in the development of future product lines.
